Andrei Kashcha is the creator of a wonderful website where you can create a colorful map of the streets of any city. City Roads hosted by GitHub is a website whose unique and exclusive function is to provide customizable maps of any place in the world where you only see the streets and roads without any other additional information.
It may not look like anything spectacular, but you only have to try our city of birth, for example, to see how wonderful this tool is. The maps it offers are, without a doubt, a small work of art composed simply of the urban fabric.
This tool gives you customizable maps that are perfect for printing and designing
Customize your own colorful maps
Part of the charm of these maps is that they lack everything that is normally contained in the maps that we can usually find and, moreover, they are composed of only two colors, by the way, customizable.
To use City Roads you just have to access the web, enter the name of a city, a region or whatever you can think of, and wait for the tool to get the data you need, which it extracts directly from OpenStreetMap. If many users are using it at the same time, it is possible that a message warns us that the operation is taking longer than usual.
Once we get the map, we can customize it in terms of colors through the Customize menu, being able to select the color of the roads, the background and the city indicator. Finally, from that same space, we will have the possibility of downloading the map in PNG, SVG formats or we can print the map wherever we want. If we think about it, the possibilities that this tool offers us are enormous.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that the car on this website, Andrei Kashcha has released the City Roads code in GitHub for anyone who wants to try to improve it or do something else with it.
