Triumph, one of the classics in the motorcycle world, has also brought out its particular version of the electric bike. It has nothing to do with the classic bikes we find parked in cities, but neither is its price the most common.
Restrictions on car travel in some city centres have led to urban mobility being reinvented. One of the vehicles preferred by many has been the bicycle, but the more irregular orographies often prevent it from being taken as a real alternative for daily transport.
Because of this and in order to attract more people came the electric bicycles. Even though you don’t have to stop pedaling, they have batteries to help you climb slopes without tiring you out.
The Triumph Electric Bike
The new model presented is the Trekker GT and has been shown to be the perfect solution for “all types of terrain”. Although it doesn’t really have tires suitable for very difficult terrain.
The engine is manufactured by Shimano and offers 250W of power with 60Nm of torque. The battery is provided by the same company and offers a range of 150 kilometres between charges, according to the data provided by the company on its website. The Triumph Trekker GT has an on-board computer that can display speed, distance travelled, travel time, the change we are driving in, range and the energy remaining in the battery.
It also has brake discs on both wheels, 10-speed gearbox, shock absorber on the fork, mudguards on both wheels and a storage rack at the rear. According to Triumph itself, the entire electric drive system only weighs about 3 kilograms. Overall, with the battery built into the aluminum frame, the total weight of the bike configured with the medium frame is 23 kilograms.
Range of 150 kilometers
The Trekker GT has a price tag of 3,000 euros, a figure that will set more than one back. Currently there are kits that are sold independently of the bike to provide an electric motor and battery to anyone we have at home. This kit costs about 565 euros and offers a not inconsiderable autonomy of 80 kilometers.
Triumh is not the only recognized brand that has electric bikes. A few months ago, Jeep presented its particular version with a range of 64 kilometers and specially designed for the toughest terrains, just like its classic off-road bikes. Peugeot also has its own and even another dedicated to motorcycles as Yamaha presented a letter of electric bikes some time ago.
