Vivaldi 2.11 is the new version of the alternative browser available in Windows, Linux and macOS that comes to compete with the big ones, with some interesting new features that reflect the constant work of his team in terms of optimization and special characteristics.
Among these new features, there is a new improvement in the mini video player that landed more than a year ago in the browser and is now much easier to use. The integration of the themes with the operating system has also been optimized to make keyboard navigation a better experience.
Vivaldi 2.11: The keyboard, the tracks, the mini player
With Vivaldi 2.11, a unique accessibility feature is added for the first time, allowing users to focus on different areas of the browser user interface and open tabs. To use it just skip using F6 or SHIFT + F6.
As you can see in the GIF above, you can use the F6 key to navigate through the tabs, taskbar, URL bar, etc., and you can use SHIFT + F6 to go in the opposite direction.
In terms of customization, Vivaldi has always stood out for offering more options than any other browser, with multiple themes available and even the possibility of creating your own color scheme.
However, until this release, its integration with the theme used by the operating system had not been optimized. Now Vivaldi will change its default theme according to the design (light or dark) of the system. Of course, you can decide whether to continue using your custom themes or change them according to the available Windows or MacOS settings.
Finally, the other important change found in the browser, is the one related to mini video player or PiP (picture-in-picture) mode. And Vivaldi was one of the first browsers to add it to its portfolio, and now, with the latest update, it will live more simply as a box-shaped icon that will be displayed in the center of the video.
Previously you had to navigate through many hidden menus to enable this function. Now, although this change has been very well received, it is rare that it has not been implemented before. Just click on that icon and the small floating player will appear outside your current window.
