Microsoft’s revenue from its Xbox video game console is falling sharply, as many users are waiting for the launch of its new machine, the Xbox Series X, which will arrive at the end of this year 2020 and is already creating enormous expectations for the features it will include, which are expected to be amazing.
However, despite this expectation, the Redmond-based company is not stopping and continues to work on its current catalogue of products, video games, updates and more, and along with the continuous updates that come to Xbox One in all its versions, now also announce the arrival of Xbox Bounty, a program of rewards for all those with enough knowledge to detect possible bugs in the emblematic Xbox console.
Looking for bugs on Xbox
Xbox Bounty is a program very similar to many others of this type. The idea is for participants to look for errors, security flaws, and general problems, in this case limited entirely to the Xbox console. The incentive to find these bugs is an outstanding monetary reward.
Participants in Xbox Bounty can earn rewards of up to $20,000 depending on the severity of the bug found. Once a bug or threat has been located, it must be reported through the channels established by Microsoft, so that their engineers can proceed to assess the quality of the report issued by whoever has detected a possible console failure.
It is important to clarify for all those interested in participating in this challenge, that not all errors or bugs have a place in the Xbox Bounty program.
In this regard, participants should focus all efforts on finding only bugs that allow remote code execution, obtaining not granted privileges, omitting security features, information disclosure, and impersonation or manipulation. Each of these threats will have a different assessment and therefore a different reward.
The Xbox Bounty program will only consider issues that are deemed to be of high severity, while moderate or minor threats will not qualify for any reward.
